Once part of the Anfibio team, after a few years break I have found my way back with fresh knowledge, new ideas and the same enthusiasm as the first time.
Sometimes life takes you to unexpected places, which is what happened to me when I came to Germany from Brazil in 2017, fresh out of school and just 19 years old. It was actually only for a limited time, I wanted to work as an au pair and learn the language. I had no plans to study here, but life made other plans: I stayed, started studying Communication Design (B.A.) in Munich and later did my Master of Arts in Product Design at the HTW Dresden.
Working at Anfibio was a clear decision for me, water sports have always been something very special. I started sailing in Brazil when I was still at school. This led me to new friendships when I worked as an au pair in Tutzing on Lake Starnberg (near Munich). Friends of mine from the volleyball team had a sailing boat themselves and often took me to regattas. I regularly go windsurfing and paddling in Dresden, learned to kitesurf last year and am trying my hand at wakeboarding this year. For me, working at Anfibio is simply ideal, combining my love of water sports with my enthusiasm for design.
I started my career at Anfibio straight after my bachelor’s degree. Freshly arrived in Dresden, I quickly felt at home in our small team of six people, three in Dresden and three in Leipzig. As a designer and communications professional, I took on many exciting projects for two years. This included the further development of our style guide, which a design agency had created and which ensures a clear and modern appearance. On this basis, I created brand-guide-compliant social media posts for Instagram as well as flyers, operating instructions, magazines and business cards.
I was also heavily involved in the design of our blog, web store and website to ensure that everything is appealing and user-friendly. For trade fairs, I designed signs and comparison tables that clearly present our products. I particularly enjoyed helping to choose colors for new packrafts, creating hand-drawn illustrations for backpacks and stickers, and designing vector illustrations and icons. I’ve attended photo shoots for new products and also done the image editing to make sure everything looks perfect.
After two great years, I decided to do a Master’s degree at the HTWD and overestimated myself a little. In the end, I had to leave the company so that I could concentrate fully on my studies. But now I’m back! Since July, I’ve been bringing in fresh knowledge, more responsibility and new projects. I am happy to be back at Anfibio and to take over my old familiar tasks. Good communication design allows me to present our products and visions authentically at Anfibio. But a lot has happened since I did my Master’s degree: now I’m also involved in product development, which I find really exciting.
I was able to learn an incredible amount at the HTW, not only in theory, but above all in practice. I learned how to work with high-tech machines such as laser cutters and 3D printers, how to build prototypes and develop models. I experienced how design comes to life. I found that super exciting, because it meant I could not only put my ideas on paper, but also create something tangible. Now I’m even more excited to be able to put my new skills into practice at Anfibio.
So yes, that’s me, 27 years young, full of joie de vivre and with many exciting experiences, some of which lie in water sports. When I’m not letting my ideas bubble away at Anfibio, you can usually find me on the water or preferably in my hammock with a good book. I also love traveling, getting creative with painting and writing children’s books. And when it gets cozy, my friends and I regularly get together for game nights where there is a lot of laughter.
I’m also a big dog lover and dream of one day taking my own four-legged companion on packraft tours. And believe me, I won’t give up trying to convince my boss to launch a product line especially for water sports enthusiasts with dogs – maybe it will happen next year!
I’m really looking forward to being back here, working with the team to break new ground and, of course, spending a lot of time on the water.
Herzlich willkommen bei Anfibio
